Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.

Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking official said the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
